GBAD Ladies believe strongly in giving back to our community. One way we can all give back and help not only those in need but those whom faced adversity yet continue to struggle to rise above it, is to donate a little time and money to various legitimate charities that are making a huge difference in the lives of Children and adults across our country (and the world). The Black Women's Health Imperative formerly known as the National Black Womens Health Project is an institution leading the way for African American health education, research, advocacy and leadership development. It was founded in 1983 by health activist Byllye Y. Avery and has pioneered the movement to promote empowerment amongst African American women as educated health care consumers to provide a strong unified voice to move to improve the health status of African American women. At Blackwomenshealth.org the official website for The Black Women's Health Imperative, they state, "Our Mission is to promote optimum health for Black Women acros the life span-physically, mentally and spiritually." Well we ladies here at GBAD agree wholeheartedly with their premise. Through education, products and programs this organization has been and is paving the way so that more African American women in this country irregardless to socioeconomic status can indeed be informed consumers about their health care choices as well as fight for the very right we all should have to quality health care for ourselves and our children.
